Digipak and Adverts

Denotation... The literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests.

Connotation... An idea or feeling that a word invokes for a person in addition to its literal or primary meaning.

Advert must include...

A picture of the album
Release date
Track details
Tour details
Reviews/ratings
Picture of the album
Record company logo
Retailer details (HMV, iTunes etc)
Facebook/Myspace/Website details

Digipak must...

Consist of book style or cardboard outer binding
Have one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside

White Background can represent purity which contrasts with the type of outfits their wearing.

Nicole is the only one in the middle of the cover. She stands out as the leader and unique because:

- She does the most singing, therefore most of her body is showing and she is dressed differently from the rest of the group members

- The rest of the dancers are dressed all in black and are at the corner of the album

Just like in their digipak, Nicole is the one in the middle ans we can see her entire body. Where as the other group members are either behind the pole or doing a pose that doe snot show their whole body.

All the members excluding Nicole are wearing red and we can see Nicole is wearing the most jewellery.

They show the conventions of RnB as they are dressed sexy but sophisticated. Portraying and keeping up their 'Berleske' image

If we look at both picture, we can see they have the same style and carry on their image. Even in their videos, they dress saucy but make it sophisticated..

Audience Research

My group and I did some research on digipaks and found out the sort of things included in it. After we analysed an artists one. This will help us when it comes to producing our very own digipak because we will know exactly what to include and what our target audience expects from it.

My group and I did an audience research to find out what they expect from a digipak and a magazine advert. We found out that they like to see colour on the digipak and advert and would like to have a gift in in it, such as a poster and a keyring. We also found out that they like to see the artists dressed sexy yet sophisticated. My group and I will use this information to make our digipak and advert appeal to our target audience and follow the conventions of RnB.
